How To Play Guardian Knights Mod For Killing Floor

Postby Guardian » Sun Aug 23, 2020 6:05 pm

If your a new player to the Guardian Knights Killing Floor Servers (Guardian Knights Mod) the following will help you understand how to play and what's going on (things can get crazy on the full custom servers).

First off, welcome to the Servers  The information below may seem like a lot, but honestly after you play for a few hours you will easily understand how to play and what's going on. If you have any other questions that may not be answered below, most players especially Admin and Veteran players will help you out and point you in the right direction.

When you first join the server, you will want to pick a perk. Press the ESC key and pick a perk from the perk list (around 50 to pick from). If your not familiar with Killing Floor, perks give special damage, abilities, stats etc. etc. to the player. Each perk is different. Once you pick a perk, if your alive in game, press the ~ (console key) key and then type suicide. Get use to this, because this becomes the way of respawning as a new perk or if you gain a level during a wave, suicide will allow you to respawn with the new weapon or weapons.

It's best to wait during the Trader Wave (after a wave is complete) to suicide. You're allowed 1 suicide per Trader Wave. If you suicide more than this, you will then start the reinforcement countdown timer and you will enter the game when your timer hits 0. The time counts down in 1 second intervals. If you press the ~ key (console key) you will be able to see the timer count down, or at the bottom of the screen. So, if you want to play as a different perk you can switch to a different perk while your dead and waiting to spawn in during a wave or you will spawn in when the wave is over. Or, after a wave is over, you can select the new perk you want to play as and then press ~ and type suicide. You will then spawn in as the new perk (remember, only allowed 1 suicide per trader wave).

VERY IMPORTANT SETTING: Be sure to have your network setting in Killing Floor set to LAN/T1
RECOMMENDED SETTING: CUSTOM SET NETSPEED TO 30000 (FOR WHEN THINGS GET CRAZY OR A LOT IS GOING ON)
Linked in another thread here on the forums that explains how to custom set netspeed. http://www.guardiansworlds.com/modules/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=2893&p=5867#p5867

NOTE:If you have problems connecting to a server while a wave is in progress with 30000, you can change it anywhere from 20000 to 30000 and that will probably help.

NOTE #2:Be sure Dynamic is not checked (no X in the box) in your Killing Floor connection settings

Some Key Notes for playing Guardians Mod on Killing Floor:
1. Guardians Mod has around 50 perks to pick from. Be sure to read the description on the perk, to kinda understand its strength and weakness. The perk description will tell you what the perk currently gets and it will then tell you what it gets the next level. You can also go here: http://www.guardiansworlds.com/modules/forums/viewforum.php?f=72 to see what each perk level does up to level 10 on each perk.

2. You gain weapons as you level each perk. As you level a perk you will gain weapons for that perk along with special stats for that perk.

3. If you cross perk (playing a perk and trying to use another perks weapons), you will ONLY DO 10% base weapon damage (very little damage). Guardian Mod is built around perk classes, so each perk needs to gain damage to level the perk, you need to play that perk to level it. Some perks will level as you play other perks, SharpShooter(Head Shots), FireBug(Fire Damage), Medic.

4. Trader is for Ammo and Armor mainly (few other items can be bought at the trader). You can only buy armor to replenish up to 100. If you have over 100 armor currently don't buy armor or you'll lose anything over 100 and go to 100. Don't buy armor if playing Mage, it will make you extremely weak to any damage you take.

5. You can have a Sentry Tech, Battle Medic or Support Specialist weld your armor up to 200.

6. Playing on Pro Servers there are rules you must go by, they are listed here: http://www.guardiansworlds.com/modules/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=157

7. On custom ZED servers (most of the Pro Servers) things get crazy. You will die a lot, so get use to that. There are regular ZED (Stock/Vanilla) pro servers to help you level low level perks. Each server has a perk limit, you can see the list here: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/GuardianKnights

8. There are 2 different databases for Guardians Mod. There's the Pro Servers and then there's Non Pro Servers (Regular). Glitching and cheating is allowed only on Non Pro Servers. Databases do not share information. If you play on Pro Servers you stats will not be on Non Pro Servers and vice versa. There are currently 11 Pro Servers and 7 Non Pro Servers.

9. There's still rules to go by on Non Pro Servers, those can be found at the bottom of the Pro Servers Rules here: http://www.guardiansworlds.com/modules/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=157

10. It will take time to level perks. Perks go to level 20. You gain weapons for each perk through level 10. After level 10, you go into Elite Perk status and you mainly gain damage increase per each level up to level 20. There are a few perks that will gain other stats as well.

11. If you respawn in as a reinforcement, your health will be capped at 100. After the wave is over and if your still alive as a reinforcement, its best to suicide so your health can reach 200 again (by being healed). Necromancer is the only perk that can force its health above 100 while being a reinforcement by killing ZEDs to increase the perks health.

12. Guardian Knights Mod is built around team play. Playing alone is hard but you can still level up the perks. Player bots have been added to servers to help a little if you're the only one on the server. With team play in mind, some perks are made as offensive, some defensive, some support and some are trash cleaners (kills small stuff until they level higher). Even so called trash cleaner perks (usually low levels) are important. Most perks have 1 or more weakness. Some of the hard hitting offensive perks will need trash cleaner perks to protect them, let it be while reloading or if they have used a weapon that has a cool down or even if their unable to kill certain ZED (enemy) type or types. It's best to work as a Team especially on the Pro Servers if you want to make it into the later waves and have a chance of winning against the End Boss.

13. You can find the server list at multiple places. Listed below:

Be sure to go here for helpful settings to play the Guardian Knights Mod: http://www.guardiansworlds.com/modules/ ... =54&t=2893

The above info should get you started and if I can think of other things to add I'll add them as time goes on. Biggest thing, don't get discouraged, expect to die a lot (on Pro Servers) just allow time to understand what's going on. Again, usually players and especially Admin or Veteran players will help you if you have questions.

Hope you Enjoy and Have Fun   \:D/
